Security system not allowing my car to start?

Hi i just bought this 1989 Firebird, 305 TPI, /w 4spd auto, from a friend, drove it home and now it wont start. i replaced the starter and a few wires i found were bad. the car sat for 6 months, alot of nests, i searched for all bad wires adn their all fixed. I have full power, i turn the key to start the car and nothing happens. What the F***!!!! i want this car to run, it has a security system and i dont no jack sh*t about it... Can anyone plz help me??:banghead: :banghead:

replace the battery? and when you turn the key, does it just go like a quite click? do the lights on the dash come on? it may be the Vats in your ignition. and welcome at AF.

check all the fuses also.

Thank you. I turn the key, no click, i got a good strong battery(New) my SES, Security, and few other lights come on. Im gonna go to a GM dealer ship today adn talk to someone.

i'd be inclined to check the ignition swtich out. The rods get bent very easily and won't throw the swtich all the way to the start position.

Also, double, triple check all you battery connections and cables.
