Horn goes off by itself on 86 Bonneville Brougham

I have an 87 Bonneville Brougham, and for the 5 months that I have been driving it, it's been amazingly reliable. All I've needed to do is put gas in it, no need for engine oil or tranny fluid or anything, it was a pretty good deal for a few hun! The horn goes off unexpectedly, though. Sometimes when it's hot out, and I'm parking or smt that requires that I crank the steering wheel hard over, the horn will go off for no reason. It's like it goes on a hair trigger and just touching the steering wheel near the supports that attach to the column (on the wheel) makes it go off. It's very embarassing because it always seems to go off in parking lots when there's tons of ppl around.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on what I could do, short of deactivating the horn entirely?
Also, I've heard that this was the last model year that used rear wheel drive, and that it's a good model year because rear wheel drive is mechanicly more robust and doesn't break down anywhere near as much as the front wheel drives --- does anyone have an opinion on this idea or this model year in general?

There is a ring around the steering shaft that the horn button contacts. Either the ring's contacts are bent, or the springs in the horn button have gotten weak and are allowing contact with too light a pressure.
The RWD versus FWD is a BIG can of worms to open up. The carmakers went to FWD because there is less manufacturing expense. They claim FWD goes better in the winter, but I disagree. RWD cars can be more fun because you can do dumb stuff like donuts, powerslides, etc... that cannot be done in a FWD car.
