One of my friends showed me this ~

1.
Do not open any message with an attached filed called "Invitation" regardless of who sent it.

Do not open it and shut down your computer immediately.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where all the vital information is kept.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.
This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is NO repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, so please send this e-mail to all your contacts.

Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment.

This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel.

Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know.

i got an email today labeled invitation. i almost opened it but then was like no it's more BS spam. really glad i left it alone. gonna go delete it right now. thanks for the heads up!!

one thing this highlights is that if you have anything at all important, make a hard copy of it or have a removeable device to use as a safe back up.
The last time i got hit by a virus, it was no big deal to simply reformat my hard-drive.

anyway, what i find funny is that a warning of a possible virus that uses your address book to send itself to, tells you to forward the message, presumably to people in your address book.

If he didn't get the virus yet he's fine though, I'm sure he knew what he was doing. As long as his receivers know hwo he is, it's fine.

yeah that's nothing. i'm up to 1,942 unread messages in the last 3 weeks. ive given up on trying to keep up, im sure most of it is worthless spam crap anyways. i don't even read them, just mass delete every so often.

I've never yet seen a "virus warning OMGZORS!@!(&#$@#$" that's been legit, and I want to throttle the sender every time some clown sends me one of them.

a virus that will destroy the left sector of your hadrive........ o well, i have my info in multiple hardrives, i never keep any of my documents in my master drive. But it says that its unfixeable. Ive never heard of a software command that can destroy your hardware....

It's the part when your computer first boot's up. If that's destroyed then you can go to your documnets reguardless if they're there.

I think you mean the mbr (master boot record). The MBR is the first sector of a partioned hard drive, it's 512 bytes.

If the hard drive is non-paritioned its called the "volume boot record".

Not referred to as zero sector :) just a lil tid bit of information for anyone that was interested.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention. It's easy to repair the MBR. So if a virus ever infects your MBR do this:

Go into DOS using a boot disc and type "FDISK/mbr" without the quotes ofcourse. This will overwrite the infected mbr and you'll be all set.

im pretty sure you can access the hardrive. I do it all the time from wrecked computers with viruses. All i do is set the afected computers hardrive as a slave, boot up a clean master drive, copy and paste documents ect.
