i've scanned through all i can about this, please help... my cel is on, had it read and it came back egr valve. went to autozone and bought a new one. then i read in a forum that it might be the port in the intake that's clogged. so i cleaned that out. went to advance and had them reset the cel and it came right back on. my question is in the haynes manual it has about ten steps to replacing it which include putting my passport on jack stands and disconnecting a number of things that i really think are irrelevent. it is connected by two bolts and there is a wire harness that is connected also. in the manual it says i need to disconnect the egr pipe? what is this? where is it? it says i need to detach the vacuum line, again i don't recall seeing a vacuum line connected to the egr valve, please help it's a 2000 honda passport thanks:banghead:

To replace an egr is like 10 min job.Egr sits on top of the intake slightly to the left ,facing the engine bay right by the fire wall .You don't need to disconesct anything. All you need is 12mm socket with the extension to remove two bolts holding the egr and unpluging the wire harness.Clean old gasket ,put new gasket ,place the valve, tight two bolts hook the wire harness and the job is done.
No vacuum hoses ,cause the valve is all electronic.
Did you clean EGR valve too, or just the the port in the intake?
Good luck
