Syncromesh vs Syncroshift

My talon has a very hard time shifting into 1st, 2nd and reverse. Its not hard literally...it just likes to grind. So I am going to change the tranny fluid, hoping this will cure the problem. Also, i will probably change the transfer and differential fluids as well. So my question is what type of fluid should I use?

I have read alot about Pennzoil syncromesh and GM syncroshift (or however it goes). but I also read on tuners that one of them is NOT GL4 and is not good for the tranny. Anyways, what do you guys think is the best fluid to buy for the tranny, transfer and diff.

Also is this right.....? The tranny and transfer take GL4 and the diff takes GL5?

Also how much of each do I need? (3 quarts of GL4 and 1 quart of GL5, correct?)

And one last question...How is the product Redline?

Redline shockproof is the best thing for in your transfer case and rear diff.

Synchroshift and Synchromesh (I'm 95% sure it's those two) are almost identical fluids and are manufactured by the same companies and just bottled in different bottles. Either one will be "fine" but like blackcrow said, Shockproof would be your best bet. Look back a couple months, there was a big 4 or so page discussion on what is the best stuff for our cars.

So the exact same bottle will work for both the transfer and diff? I thought they needed two different types of fluids.

Also, should i use redline schockproof for the tranny fluid?

Also what weight oil do I use?

Thanks

Any one here right now, running pennzoil with heavy shockproof for tranny ?. Im running stray pennzoil right now, and might want to mix 1 quart of shockproof and 1.5q pennzoil.

Well i guess Pennzoil syncromesh in the tranny, and redline shockproof in the transfer and diff. it is.

I run this stuff straight right? Because Killer mentioned something about mixing some and some...or is that just for his application?

I been read about this year ago, when I first have my manual car, people actually mix those 2 together, kevin been mix them too, I just run stray pennzoil, but now I might mix those 2 together, let see what up.

I just change my tranny fluid 1 hours ago, 1 quart of shock proof and the rest is pennzoil, I think run stray peinnzoil is too thin. Cause when I drain it , I saw it too thin.

Howd does the car run and shift now? Thinking about maybe mixing the fluids in for my tranny. Dont want it to be to thin...

Off subject question? My engine was rebuilt with all new OEM pistons, rings, etc. What kind of oil should I run? I changed it about 1 week ago and it is starting to leak, not burn, oil. I am running 5w30 right now...is that too thin?

The car shift kinda the same as before, mabe a little better. Any way where does the oil leak from, our dsm should run 10w/30, I run 10w/30 castrol gtx( I cant run syntec cause I scare leak, 146k mile.)

GTR, you can run Synthetic if you want, otherwise just stick with 10w30 (but I still recommend synthetic). I like to run Mobil 1 10w30 when I use synthetic. And you should probably fix that oil leak.
