i dont know much about smog testing and smog requirements on the car but will my 94 accord pass smog with a no-name cold air intake and a matrix straight thru muffler?

Yep, unless you are in California, you should be fine.

If your CAI eliminates any factory pollution controls, such as a crankcase PCV source or any vacuum lines that operate pollution controls, by the book it should fail ANY Federal emissions visual components test...however most inspectors aren't real good at remembering what the configuration for every vehicle on the road is, so they look for systems common to all vehicles, which basically means as long as there aren't obvious omissions or hoses hanging or capped, they aren't going to look real close...

As far as the muffler, as long as the catalyst is there and the system is intact, it doesn't matter what kinda core your muffler has....

i do live in cali. so would i be screwed or what. all the hoses and the emission controls stuff is all there. i didnt touch anything in the engine bay except the CAI, which has the crankcase ventalation hose attached to it.

I'm pretty sure any modifications to a California car have to be C.A.R.B. certified, and they will say that on the part....just call a testing station and ask them...why guess?

its not carb certified. so i think ill just put the old intake tubing back on but with just the cone filter at the end. that wouldnt really violate and any rules cuz the air box doesnt really need to be there does it?

I still think I'd call them. I was a Missouri State emissions inspector for many years, but Cali is weird, so I'd just be guessing....

Cali is the toughtest state, and I think you would fail the visual if you have any aftermarket modifications on at all. Basically save the stock stuff and swap it back on 1 day a year.

swap it back on 1 day a year and hope the cops don't stop you and look under the hood!
