gtc shark fin window

Ok. I took my whole shark fin window frame out.wasnt as hard as i thought. But my problem is this .It looks like the cables coming out of the motor have frayed and come off the pulleys. they are all twisted up and bent.No way for them to properly work again. Am i able to get new replacement cables for these windows. Or would i be better off going to a salvage yard and getting the whole window and frame and replacing it. Just bought it 95 gtc. any help would be greatly appreciated.I was thinking of just replacing the whole window frame since there are only three bolts that hold the frame on

Well, being that all the lebarons have problems with their shark fin rear windows, I doubt checking out a salvage yard will prove useful. Likely they are just as bad or worse than what's in your car. I don't recall you saying the motor works or not, but if the motor doesn't work, i wouldn't bother with anything else. The motor alone costs somewhere around $300 I think. And that's only for one side.

As for the cables...check the dealership. If the dealership doesn't carry them you can try aftermarket stuff or a custom do it yourself job. More likely than not there won't be any aftermarket replacements and the dealership may or may not even know what you are talking about. I hate dealerships. :p

Actually, I just checked online and depending upon what model you have the motors will run anywhere from $50 to $140 each. I didn't see any cables that came with any of the kits.

I'm about to start the same project on a 90 lebconv. I'd be intrested in links to the site for the motor kits if you have em Mr Leb94. They dont look too dif to get out so, I'm hoping tis an quick an relatively inexpencive job :wink: .. not that i'm cheap just want to get it done.

And then just search for your part under Body and Trim. It will ask you to input your car's make, model and year. VIN # is somewhere in there I think. That'll make it a perfect match for your parts.

Good site, tho didnt have the motors i want so asked customer serv to advise. Pity the dont do a headlamp motor. I pulled one of the sharkies out last night to see if the motor was duff.. alas tis :disappoin so will just have to wait and see where i can get one. On a good note :) i did find that power is gettin to the motors and thats a big +.

The have window motors but only list them for a 4 door.. so had a natter with a LIVECHAT techie type and he confirms motors rear will fit the shark fin.
