battery/ power wire questions

i searched through this forum, but didn't find anything
i have a battery with top connector posts and side "screw in".
the truck is wired to the side screw in posts for starting, etc.
can i use the top posts to power the accessories/amps? would it make a difference (are they internally connected?)

that is actually what most SPL competitors do
