Hey
Just thought id share my recent experiene with Magnus Motorsports.
I was in need of a new cylinder head for my 92 RST AWD. I ordered a stock rebuild head from Magnus. The head is a rebuild head with all new valves, guides springs.....and so on. Got the head and it looked pretty good. Checked everuthing over to make sure it wasn't damaged in shipping. After installing the head onto the motor. Checking the timing and tripple checking the timing. Everything looked good. I used new belts, seals, hydrolic tensioner and so on....(completely rebuilt motor). So i started it and it was running awesome. Let it run for about 15 min and there was no problems. Then all of a sudden the car stalled. After starting it again it died a seccond time. I took the valve cover off and all the valves looked great. Nothing was bent. After deciding to do a compression check i pulled out the spark plug for cylinder 4. The spark plug w as destroyed. I took a pencil magnet and put it into the cylinder to see ow much metal from the spark plug was in the sylinder. I found a large piece of metal. So after taking the cylinder head back off i found the head of the valve floating around in the cylinder. All of the valves were fine other than the one intake valve that was broke. The valve did not hit the piston and break off. The reason i know this is because i pulled the rest of the valve out of the head from the camshaft side. By looking at the valve you can see that there was a crack in the "brand new valve" and the force of the valve closing cause the face of the valve to pop off. After explaining the situation to magnus motorsports, they told me that they 'do not warranty and cannot guarentee any of their products. As they assemble the heads but so not make the valves. My lawyer is contacting them this week and i hope they will pay for the new head as well as head gasket, piston(hole in the top of the piston) as well as the block which is gouged beyond boring. Just thought id warn you about magnus not backing up any of their products. Ill try and post pics later.
