Should we allow members under the age of 15, since they can't drive anyways? We could be as profane and graphic and wanted and not offend these little kids. Sign the petition and vote!

I would have to say no!
The maturity level needs to stay on a higher level. Letting anyone younger in could make things a little interesting and may take the fourms in a different direction.
Let them have their My Space and we'll keep our Fourms!

But what is there are teens younger then 16 that are being helped by a father or father like figure in building a car and need some advise on what to do to it?
Should they simply be blocked by doing that because this site doesn't allow people under the age of 16 to join and no on in the real world can help them out? No.
But that is rare and might not happen but we shouldn't do it just because it can happen.

People lie about their age all the time, Maybe they should be allowed but must consent to the fact that there might be inappropriate language on occasion and adult situations because this site is primarily made up of adults.

i say 15 and up come in all you want, but if they are under 15 they have to have someone over 15 say it is ok for them to be around "adult" talk.

"Adult talk"? Dude, have you talked to a 5th grader lately? They're teaching me things...

LOL, i know, thats why i say just screw the age thing, if people 13 and up are allowed, i think 13 year olds have heard stuff like this befor, they are not going to run to mommy and daddy and tell them. Just keep the age how it is and let us talk like "adults", or let only 15 and up people be in here, unless they have a parent or gardien say it is ok.

I voted yes because i bought my wagon when i got my temps at 15 and with the help here i put on a rear brake line and got my heater working again. I think that maybe 14yr olds and younger cant come on but once they start driving (temps or drivers) they should be allowed to join.

Mine = yes 150%.
My youngest at 8 could probably log on and help a few floks out seing he's been doing oil changes and preventive maintnance with me whenever my blood pressure isn't through the roof and feel like walking him through it for a few years now.

I know we have had and will have members that are every bit the car enthusiast most of us are and they can share and learn the same way we can. So while some 13 or 14 year olds may be immature. After reading many of our posts we don't have much room to talk.

For me, its hard to say. I agree with both sides.
Kids under 15 shouldn't because they probably don't even have a car yet.
But maybe they are looking into getting a certain vehicle and want to ask specific questions about it, like common problems.
Its tough to say one way or the other.

If there was a minimum age than do you think the immature kids out there are really going to obey it? If anything it would hurt A/F because the younger generation who would probably add to the boards would probably obey the age limit and not join.

true. even if we had some disclaimer, people could just click yes anyway. sounds like a pickel.

I voted yes for the simple reason that there shouldnt be a set age limit on an intrest in cars. Kids not old enough to drive should be able to learn as much as they can beforehand and what a better place than this.
There have been a few kids on here that knew more than the most of us and weren't even old enough to drive themselves.

i find the inappropriate language thing funny, there's such a difference between the US and teh UK over that.
swearing is commonplace here, no on takes any notice of it. in my college i had teachers who didn't care in the least, i had a couple who'd swear all the time.
my mum doesn't care about my swearing, i've never said c**t in front of her, but i've said everything else (no used in an offensive way towards her.)
but when i was with Nicole and her mum, i said "damn" and her mum thought that was rude/wrong/innapropriate. over here people say damn all the time, it's not even close to being rude here. we just don't get offended/upset over this stuff.
