Personal choice for the Civic is a Hurst and for the CRX a Neuspeed. This is something you pay for the name and quality. I/m delighted with the finish and performance of both. Then again I also put the polyurethane bushings in.

i am trying to stay away from hurst cause i bought a hurst for my sonoma when i had it and it was the biggest peice of garbage i have ever bought. the thing leaked all over, was noisey, and was about half of an inch or less away from my stock radio when in third so you always slammed your knuckles on the radio. but thanks for the response!

Go for neuspeed. Stay away from the stuff on ebay that is advertised as "Type-r" and I heve also heard bad things about obx-r.
Tenzo-r on the other hand is apparently good.

How does a shortshifter work? What does it do?

a short shifter shortens the throw of your shift between gears...so like from 1st to 2nd will be a lot shorter and so on.

How does a shifter leak it's not like it's full of fluid...

Anyway are these things worth getting? If I was to get one I would get a Hurst as if they can make things for Muscle Cars then it will be good enough for a Civic. Do they fit in well? I heard if the ball is too small they can pop out, this happen to anyone?

mine leaked in my sonoma cause on those models, the shifter goes right into the top of the trans. like when you take the shifter out you see the gears. so the trans fluid was leaking out all over. i ended up with the hurst though for the civic and i will let you know how it goes tonight after i install it. i also got new urethane bushings and a new knob :D
