94 Center Console/Armrest

Hi all,
How do i remove the center console/armrest on a 94 explorer? The armrest leans toward the passenger seat and does not rotate up and down very easily. I've seen websites that sell the bracket that connects the console to the seat, but i'm not sure that's what i need as i can't even see what's broken. I pried out the little plastic plug that's inside the console, but i can't see what's behind it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
