1999 F 250 Tranny trouble

I have a 1999 F 250 v 10 with 135000 mls on it. It has a electronic 4 spd auto trans , all of a sudden the odometor stopped working and the trans is shifting really rough. It;s like almost going into nuetral before slamming into second, I've checked all the fuses under dash and hood please help! Thanks Greg

The speedometer being inop and shifting problems are sometimes symptoms of a rear ABS sensor going out. This is a sensor that bolts in the top center of the rear differential. The sensor causes a shifting concern because the vehicle doesn't know how fast it's going and so it has to guess from other inputs, and the guessing capabilities of that PCM are less than amazing. Normally, I'd say to scan before replacing parts, but if your speedo is inop I'd spring the twenty bucks and throw the sensor at it before paying someone to scan the ABS system.
