I have a '90, so my observations aren't gospel, but no one else is responding.

My removable third row bench seat has both sides of the center lap belt attached to the seat bottom, plus the right and left outboard seating position buckles.

The retracting left and right side lap/shoulder belts attach to the wheel houses, down near the floor, toward the rear of the seat on each side. A swiveling lap belt guide guide is bolted through the upper inside window frame molding on each side.

If you remove the window frame molding and pull up your carpet, I bet you'll find threaded inserts to attach your new retracting outside belts. All you should need to do is cut holes in the moldings and carpet in the right places!

I can't imagine GM would go to the expense of making two different inner body structures specs for such a small production vatiation!

Easiest thing would be to look at another '96 equipped with the same seat you bought. Pull the seat and see what goes where. By the way, my Sub has four latching anchor wells installed in the floor under where the seat goes. Pull up your mat or carpet and make sure the holes, perhaps covered with flat plates, are there! If not, putting them in could get complicated and expensive in a hurry!

While we're on the topic of expense, I'll bet your dealer will quote around $300 for new retracting belts. And GM only guarantees parts availability for 10 years. Belts are usually available for a much longer period, but typically in black only.

This is where a good salvage yard can save you up to 90% of the parts costs. When my daughter broke off my passenger-side electric remote mirror on a mailbox (original option sheet price $54 for the pair), the dealer quoted me $250 for one! Got one form the salvage yard in new, perfect working order for $45.

Good luck!
