making dents

any one got a good idead make dents and crashed parts tryed heating up with lighter melted away :evillol:

The problem is that plastic doesn't behave like metal when stressed. So, unless you're building a Saturn with plastic body panels, it can be tricky.

Conceptually, the best method I've seen was in the tips column of some old Scale Auto. It involves foil casting the panel to be damaged, but warping or deforming the foil mold to represent the damage, and then casting a replacement panel. You use heavy foil, like kitchen foil, so it will hold it's general shape, and the casting agent can be whatever works - most resins may be too thin to stick to a 1-piece mold of a complex shape.

What I used to do is not by using lighter because it did not have constant heating. Too near and it will melt and too far the plastic just won't bend. What I use is the lighter which uses filament rather than the traditional types. Candle fire is also a no-no.

I usually will heat it bit by bit and making sure that the plastic will be soft and not melt. Then I will push it using erasers to make the dents. Here's an example of the dent that I made using the mentioned method on the front left fender and the front bonnet.
