well, as i said in my last post im looking to buy this car or something similair. But i havent been able to fin anything similair. Can someone help me out here? what are the main competitors of the wrx? all im really conserned about is handling and acceleration. can someone point me towards a few good handling/good accelearation cars for under 20k? I would consider a mustang but i've already had one and i want to try something new. Thanks.

There is no need to be worried about the WRS's handeling and acceleration, because it has the best of both in its class, but i dont know if you will find one for under 20k.

I drove a WRX at a local dealer it was a used 2002 w/ 6500 miles, a guy had traded it in for a Dodge Dakota (what an idiot). When I cranked the car up the motor was shaking really bad when i sat in the car it had a horrible wobbling. Closer inspection of the car revealed... he had removed the heat shields on the turbo, thus making the top mounted intercooler pointless b/c of all the heat it was being exposed to. The car was great... I took the 90 exit ramp going about 65 and it was smooth as ice. The only thing i can figure w/ the wobbly motor, 1- seriousy ragged out 2- shitty motor mounts 3- previously wreked. The paint had horrible chips in it too. Who Knows, but it was a great driving car.

maybe he traded it in for a dakota cause he was treating it like a pick up truck...lol.
My scooby has no problems with vibration and shit like that...actually at 220kmph it still feels smother than a brand new honda.
Subaru...the beauty of all wheel drive....aaahhhhhhhhhhh

Yea the vibration is possibly the Boxer engine, since the EJ20 is somewhat lightened as opposed to a regualr 2.0 litre. And yes the stock paint on the WRX is thin.

Not the boxer motor, I've rode in and drove many (about 5) Subaru's including a '90 Legacy and a couple of diff. models (including a WRX) none of them had that much motot vibration. Subaru's are definately a diffrent reed of cars but not so much that they feel like shit when your sitting at a red light and ride like a dream on the road. I had just mentioned it to see if anyone else had noticed a problem. BTW: when you mention the boxer motor to a honda driver you usually have to describe it in dummy terms... a "V-4". HEHE!!

It don't sound right to me that the engine should vibrate excessively....you sure there weren't anything wrong with the engine?
I have the alumi block in my car, one of only a few that came in, and it is dead smooth, so why the hell would they let the WRX be rough?
You sure there isn't a broken motor mount or something that is throwing the balance of the engine?
Seems weird to me.....

To my understanding, engine is horizontally opposed. Thus, horizontal motions are NOT cancelling any motions as what most people think of a boxer engine, because as two cylinders push OUT, the other two are pulling IN. So what you have is definite shaking of the engine during idle. Its smooth on the go and shakey on the still.
Maybe some STi mounts can help?
What I'm confused is, I know some people who do have shaking and some who dont.

all i can figure is the car was ragged and the motor mounts were crappy. I understand the concept of the motor, and was mainly wondering if other people had this problem. This car wasn't just wobbling it was shaking and it wasn't something i just detected being that i'm a freak about cars. The other people w/ me though it was strang too. Thank guys for the imput.
