Why do the Supras cost so much?

I am the proud owner of a very low mileage VR4. Recently on Ebay I saw a 94 Supra with 72,999 miles, a salvage title and with with almost 4 days left, it has a bid of $14,500.00. Looking at the other Supra Turbos, they seem to run considerably more than the VR4s price wise. Does anybody have any opinions as to these cars generally run more on the used market than a comparable 3000's? I mean I looked briefly at Supras before deciding on a 3000GT mostly because of looks which I like a lot better. Now I am wondering what is so special about the Supra? Is it looks, reliability, performance, what??

Oh yeah, one more thing. Does anyone here with a VR4 live close to Greensboro, NC? I would like to ride with someone else's car just as a comparison.

Rarity for one. You think 3/s's are rare? Well then think about this there were more 3000gt VR4's (yes just VR4's) made in one year than there were for NA and TT Supras combined throughout the MKIV production era. Other than that its a Toyota, which generally cost more, hold retail value more, etc. Also a bit of Fast & Furious has something to do with it.

Well I think it has been proven vr4 internals can handle ridiculously high power as well.

However, this is the 3S section. Questions about Supras should be taken to the Toyota or Car comparison sections.
