Hi, I am pretty attached to my Acura legend. Its a 91 4door sedan. In some sense it it might seem pretty unpractical because they don't really make parts for this car any longer. However, can any one knowlegable enough tell me what other engines would be a pretty good but cheap replacement fit or upgrade for this model preferably made by Honda. I also heard that this series of Acuras are known to have head gasket problems. Is it possible to also install a four cylinder Engine to avoid this problem insted of the six. i don't mind sacrificing a few horse power. Yes I am a newbie to Engine knowledge. Please help

You can get any part you want for that motor.

the problem with the 3.2L V6 in them isn't so much the head gaskets....although they do fail, they don't fail regularly at all. Last one I did had about 160K miles on it when it went....

The problem is how hard it is to work on the damn things. Doing anything to these motors is a complete nightmare.

Parts are availible, but are expensive as hell. Head gasket set is around $600 if I remember correctly.

As for swapping engines, as already said, anything is possible, but this V6 is mounted longitudily with the tranny behind it and the transaxle is actually in the oil pan. This is very different than most 4 cylinders.

A good motor swap might be a Acura Vigor 5 cylinder. Its config is simular to the 3.2L, and is a very good motor. But how much work would be required to swap it, no idea.

If you don't have a headgasket issue, I'd just drive it personally. You may or may not have any problems for a long long time....its a crap shoot
