Panel and Paint Effects

Having just aquired an airbrush I was wondering what paint effects I could try.

Anyone tried painting metallic blue base coat with a clear green top coat?

What about purple with clear red?

What about red with smoke?

Just idle thoughts.........thinking of doing a GT500KR Mustang with something a little extra in the paint department.

hey man, i dont know about your question but I see you have a datsun 240, got any pics of it? i been dying for one, I have a 68 Mustang right now maybe when I am done restoring it I will get a 240Z, I love those cars, I will probally do something like the chevy V8 conversion, have you heard of the ferrari conversion kits? I like them but I dont about crusing around with a fake ferrari..

Wanted to keep it under my hat, but... :p

I'm dying to try translucent violet over flat orange. I hear it can make a nice red... :)

by the way, I heard candy red or clear red(like for tailights) is awesome above a dark orange or metalic lime/green

Yeeep I have one and a half Datsun 240z's. It is a great car but not overly powerful in standard form. Fast enough though. I have great fun tinkering with it and slowly doing it up. Well you have a Mustang and want a Z. I have a Z and want a mustang really badly. I would really like a 65 fastback or if dreams are fee a GT-500 but without the KR front - more like the GT-350 with the twin central fogs.

BTW The 240z in my avatar is my parts car - hence the half..........

A 240z with a chevy V8 is a mean machine - not much different in weight too. I want to drop my Skyline engine in another 240z project car......

I can feel a GTR/240z hybrid model coming on.......

In Japan they dropped a GTR motor into a 240Z and it looks like it came from the factory like that.

When i was spraying my impreza WRC with TS50 some of the parts were held with 'bulldog' clips which were a gun metel colour. A thin coat of paint got onto them and it produced a nice effect so I would like to try airbrushing a fine coat of Mica Blue over a Gunmetal base.

I did my 300ZX in the gallery with transparent blue over chrome. It came out looking pretty good IMO. The powersupply for my computer, is also chrome painted with transparent red over it. Looks pretty funky. For one of my Revell ITR's, I'm going to do a transparent red over gold paint, with perhaps a pearl overcoat. I'll see, though.
