Windshield Hinge...stripped bolts

Finally bought a Jeep......'89 YJ. Trying to install the mirrors that mount to the windshield hinges, but the first bolt I tried to remove broke off....the head turns but won't come out.....so moving on to bolt number two and the hex is about to strip, now I'm afraid to try any others.

Anyone have any suggestions on removing the broken bolt, and getting the rest out? Do these bolts screw into a nut, or do they just screw into the sheet metal?

Nope, not stripped... There are nuts on the other side of the firewall, behind the dash. You'll have fun getting to them. Yes, you'll have to pull the dash off quite a bit. Also, when you get to take the mirror off of the door mount, be carefull, I actully broke the bolt on both of mine, and had to just weld them onto the new mount.

Thanks (I think), I was afraid this might involve going behind the dash.
