97 Crown Vic A/C and turn signals problem

My 97' Crown Victoria LX lost both the air conditioning controls, and the turn signals at the same exact time today. Everything else works perfect. It has the digital dashboard. It has never given me any type of electrical problem before until now.

My question is what is the common link between the two. Do they share a fusable link by the power distribution box, or could the problem be lurking in the dash somwhere? Ive checked all the fuses (all good) and swapped around the relays that could have somthing to do with it, but im at a loss as to what the problem could be. I fear i will end up having to tear into the wiring system to figure out the problem wich could take quite a bit of time and so i was hoping somone on the CV side of the forums might have some insight for me. I cant venture on what would cause just those two systems to fail, and nothing else.

Everything else works just as it should and they both definatly failed at the same exact time and all at once. The lights on the digital ac control are completely out, as well as the digital outside temperature display wich displays through the AC controls... but the AC was working perfect until the problem occured. ANy replies will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a loose or corroded plug in the dash?
Make a couple of enlarged copies of the wiring diagram for your car. Use different colored hi-lighters and trace all the affected circuits and see if you can find a common point of failure.

I havent put a meter on the fuse box yet, but a friend of mine who works on local campus police cars said it sounds like a fuse box *buss* problem, considering whats wrong with it coupled with the fact that the brake lights still work with or without the headlamps activated. He thinks a power surge might have been too much for the system to take considering the intolerence of voltage surges in reference to digital dash models. He also stated that its more common for the 2002+ model crown vics for surging voltage, and added that a lot of the cars he works on (2002+) often require replacement of the alternator, battery, or starter, or all of the above, compared to the previous models of the CV such as mine. Most he works with are non digi dash tho so he said " might have took the whole system out", and told me to look closer, and focus on the fuse box with a "test light" to see if the power across the fuses involved are still hot. He says look and see if the actual fuses are close to each other, probably meaning fed from the same power source. I dont have a book to the car as i pretty much run on instinct when it comes to wiring, but im less than an expert on this model of car.

Thanks for the advice KimMG, i might as well get a book like you said since the car is giving me problems right>?. If i find the problem i will post it here for future reference to anybody with similar conflicts, but any advice is still appreciated considering I still dont know what the heck is going on.

update:

fuse #5 in the dash fuse box had a faulty connection where the fuse itself plugs in. I cleaned the connection with the tip of a tiny screw driver, and it fixed the problem.

Thanks for the update. This may help someone else that has a similar problem.

No problem at all.
