Rocker arm off

Can someone help me with this problem. First, I have a 2000 4.0L sohc.
I took the valve cover off to find that the rear rocker arm was off
the push rod and valve spring. Its still under the cam lobe and when
I try to replace it. The rocker arm fit loose under the lobe. Can this be
a lifter problem that require head remover?

Look closely or even measure the rocker stud thats giving you the problem. Compare the measurement to another rocker stud on the head, and see if the stud itself is coming lose. Yes it could be a lifter, or you could have knocked a lobe off the cam. Also look at the rocker arm itself and see if its taken damage.

Sounds like you probably have a worn cam. I wouln't rule out a worn lifter, though. Also, the SOHC doesn't have push rods.
