Transmission problem.

I have a 92 F250 4x4 with auto transmission. I was pulling my trailer up an 8% grade and blew tranny fluid up the hill for about 2 miles then the truck just stopped. It was dark and the truck was pulling fine till it just stopped. I filled the tranny back up and it is not leaking anywhere, I drove it home towing my friends car hauler as he pulled my trailer and it seemed fine, any suggestions on what happened and what I should do?

This is a guess, but I think it was just completely overheated and it "burped" enough ATF out so that it would not work.

If that IS the case, the AT cooler in your truck is obviously NOT large enough for the load you were pulling.

Where would it "burp" from? the only place that I could think of is the front main seal. the bottom of the tranny at the bell housing had a little bit of tranny fluid on it but no where else. Is it possible for the seal to blow out and reseal itself?

It could come out the fill tube.

do you think that all of it could come out of there? I had to put 13 quarts back in to get it full

Not sure, but I have seen a brand new truck catch on fire because of the tranny overheating and burping fluid out and onto the hot exhaust. Its amazing what people will put these trucks through, and then wonder why they don't last. This was done by a debris hauler after hurricane Katrina, so I guess you could say he was being paid for it, but still.
