i have read the thread about setting decals which seems to work for me.i am currently trying to set some decals on a tamiya castrol mugen honda with great difficulty. the decals seem to be very brittle and crack very easy. is there any other way of softening before applying thanks for any comments

When you place the decals in the water, use warm water, this will often help soften the decals a little more. By warm I don't mean baby bath water warm either, warmer than that.

Are they old decals?? If so they can often crack and be brittle due to the age if they have not been stored correctly.I recently built my Hasegawa Lancer Evo rally and the decals split and cracked and simply wouldn't stick well enough even though I used the Microsol and Set solutions. You could try over coating in Microscale Liquid Decal film before application and this may hold them together better and make them a little bit more usable.

Try using a lot of warm water on the surface under the place where the decal must be placed. Use soft brushes; take it to its position and then start removing water pushing the decal in all directions very softly with a brush.

If they are brittle and break easily when being removed from the sheet then Microscale liquid decal solution should be put on them first and allowed to dry before you soak them. This stuff has saved me on many many occasions.
