Okay, I am trying right now to find out if I have a boost leak. i have made the contraption and whatever, and have already attached it to the turbo and I am using a regular hand pump/ bicycle tire pump. So I am pumping away, and it as if I am getting nowwhere. I assume I have to pump the ai through the whole system first before I can hear an air leak, but for how long must I pump it feel like I have been pumping forever.

Any input? Does it sound like I am doing anything wrong?

Thanks

can't use a bike bump, in fact most of the 12volt car pumps don't even work. Best bet is to get it to a gas station and use that, or find someone with an air compressor ;)

lol, i tried the 12volt in car one, that sucked too. you need a real compressor, i used the one at my work, but dont overboost.

LOL, I gave up on the bike pump after 10 mintues of sweating like a bitch, then I decided to gerry-rig the 12-volt car pump so that I can plug it into the wall....how can this NOT work? Or will it just take forever?

The previous owner said the leak is where the throttle body flap's center arm meets the edges of the throttle body....he said the two rubbr o-rings are either gone or cracked...he said that is where it is leaking from...is that a common place for air to leak from?

I am searching the hell out of tuners, but no luck....

haha sorry but I just had a mental image of someone going at it with a bike bump, sorry man that had to suck. I dont know if the vfaq still says it, but it used to say you could use a bike pump. BULLSHIT, lol.

Ok, yeah that's a common boost leak spot, as is most of the fucking throttle body. There are so many places it leaks from, and in my case, leaks from most of them!

:werd: Actually, when it was running well, I had no boost leaks at all.

that's a first. Tested to 20psi and all? We almost always have 1 or more small ones.

Also when doing this I can feel air throught the breather hose.

When doing this, am I supposed to fully close the throttle plate (taking off the cable)?

i i use one this little tanks that they sell at menard/walmart, it holds 125, 5 gal, and it sounds like a boost leak on the TB, but only if the butterfly is closed, if i open it the noise is gone.

Okay can suomeone give me full directions on how to perform a boost leak test? I have searched my ass sore for instructions on vfaq, thsi forum and tuners but cannot seem to find any. Am I fool? I seriously cannot get it to work...is it only because i am still using the 12 volt air compressor?

I am going to go to walmart tomorrow, but until then can someone PLEASE post up directions or a link to them. This is aggravating me, for some reason...lol.
