I Need MAJOR Advice.....Please!!

Ok I am going to explain it as best as I can.
I was turning onto a street when all of a sudden I heard like some crackling coming from under the car. Like if something was twisting or something like it. Anyway right after I heard that the Power Steering got really really hard...like if it is missing fluid ( dont see how because I just filled it up about 3-4 months ago). Then the battery light came on and the Temp light came on and the temp gauge went straight up to the red. The car turns off and on fine and it stays on fine also.
When I got home I opened the hood and could hear the whistling sound when a car is overheated.
What could be going on??? Thanks.

sounds like you broke a serpentine belt.
