Hey guys, I have seen around those Cyclone manifold intake. People put em on and take out their stock ones. Whats the gain from it if any? And what cars are they out of 1st gen? I wanted to get one for the GSx, are they direct bolt on from the stock one or do I need some fabricating.

Thanks

From what I understand you can just put the intake manifold on there but it wont work correctly so you might actually lose power...you have to install a few other parts for it...not sure what they are but I remember there was a good write up on DSMtuners about it a little while back....

It just has an acuator that connects to a vacuum line which controls which runners it opens. It has short ones and long ones on them. I believe they are a direct bolt on for 6 bolts but will not fit a 7 bolt unless you have the head ported to match. I am considering getting one real cheap on ebay for my 6 bolt.

not worth the effort. A magnus or any other smim would outflow it easily.

 I actually asked this question when I first started posting too. If you search, there are at least :15millionsign: threads about it IIRC. :smooch:

This defeats the entire purpose of the cyclone manifold though :) It is not at all designed for high flow. The benefit is that it actually flows less under vacuum, increasing low and midrange torque. For 99% of DSMers power is the main concern, and for those poeple a SMIM makes more sense, or even just a stock 1g piece which does pretty well.

If someone is really that interested in low end torque they're running the wrong motor IMO, get a diesel. For those that want to try the cyclone manifold anyway, be aware that there is a whole seperate subsystem that includes an ECU that knows how to properly control the manifold's vacuum system for the switchover. You can make it work with pressure switches and other such fuckery, but it takes some doing. There is a ton of info out there about this, most of it wrong, but out there none the less. :)

Edit> Descriptive titles please! "Quick Question" says absolutely nothing about what is in the thread. ;)

Yeah, I wouldn't have clicked this one if it was titled "cyclone manifold question"
