im looking to buy a 300zx and im wondering what mileage to aim for. what high mileage on this car? after 160,000 or whatever do parts start to break down? whats the mileage on your cars? and how much have you had to spend just fixing the problems with your car? see the problem is i dont have a ton of money to modify a car so i dont want to waist any money fixing the normall parts i know some things will break but i would rather spend thad money on modifications

also - how much have you put in your car and how fast does it run?

here's a link to a webpage for "what to look for when buying a Z31"

http://z31.com/lookfor.shtml

As for parts that go bad, if you get a turbo and race it then the most trouble you will have is fouled spark plugs. A Z31 is very reliable as long as it's taken care of.

im actually looking at 90 - 93 (94-96 are kinda out of my price range but if i find one in my range i would get it) 300zx's i belive those are the Z32's i was just using 160,000 miles as an example. im trying to get an idea of how long these cars last so i dont have to put to much extra money in them fixing them up it sounds like - from other posts that they last a long time but im trying to figure out if it would be worth the extra money for a car with 70,000 miles rather than 100,000. im also trying to figure out if it would be worth the extra money to get the tt model over the n/a - if i can. sorry for all the newbie questions but im trying to learn as much about them before i buy one so i dont get in over my head.

It is worth the extra money to get a 300zx with lower miles and tt model. Not if it's way too much though. In the area I live I see 300zxtt being sold for around 10k with lower than 100k miles. I can't tell you about reliability of them though because I have never owned a Z32. Choose your car for the obvious reasons like price, performance, and condition.

Just because a car has less than 100k miles don't mean squat especially if you buy a TT. Definitely set aside a few grand for repairs.
