A/C Vacuum Tube help needed

Just found my rubber hose/plastic line for A/C pulled loose from wherever it's supposed to connect way back in the engine. I've looked with a flaslight and mirror but cannot locate where it connects. It goes across the air cleaner body down towards the fire wall. Can anyone tell me where this connection is and if I can do it myself? Or, is it too hard to get access to it?? I hate to pay GM to just plug it in and charge me an arm & leg. Thanks!!!

Which end came loose, the end near the firewall, or the end near the engine?
If it's the end near the engine, pull the doghouse and look down near the right fender well with your flashlight. There is a black plastic vacuum chamber with a hose fitting on it.
I don't see what year model you have, so the vacuum chamber may be located slightly different than I describe, but you'll find it.

It's common for that vacuum line to dry rot and break where it crosses over the engine. Check on the driver side of the engine next to the PCV valve and you'll see where it connects. You can splice in a new line by sliding it over the old one. Replace as much of the old line as possible to avoid the problem again in the future. Hope this helps.

Your Astro runs on vacuum tubes? Mine is all transistorized. Must've been some big changes in the short span of a couple model years. I have a couple antique radios which still use vacuum tubes. Good luck finding any outside of the former Soviet Republiks.

As usual, the Master is correct. The vacuum source is on the LH side if the TB on top of the intake - Almost right behind the AC compressor. It travels just in front of an below the TB across the engine to the RH side, where it transitions to a rubber hose before splitting to the vacuum reservoi, check valve, and interior HVAC controls.
