It sounds like the blower bearings are shot! The blower is located under the hood, on the firewall. It helps to remove the strut brace for easier access. Cost about 40 bucks at O'Reilly Auto Parts (http://www.oreillyauto.com/EW3/DisplayTheParts.do?categoryCode=8&groupCode=17) or Advance Auto Parts (http://www.partsamerica.com/)
With the right tools, it takes no more than 1/2 hr to change and that includes a 10 min break!:grinyes:

Job should require less than a 6 pack to complete.

if its anything like mine, the little plastic shroud around the blower moter will crumble into little pieces when you try to remove it. save the pices that have the holes for the bolts to go thru. you'll have to reuse those because they space out the bolts (or get some thick washers)

I replaced one on an 86 olds cutlass once. It was even easier than the PA would be. The cutlass blower is on the passenger side right near the hood support lever/spring. That was a no beer job ;)

although beer was consumed shortly thereafter ;)
