So today I finally got my new flo-pro muffler installed, and I must say I'm pretty pleased with it. I went with the flo-pro mx502 with 3" flow tubes and left the stock pipes going from the engine to the muffler and then put a 3" pipe from the muffler to the tip.

In order to make room for the 3" pipe they had to re-route it around the other side of the shock and cut out one of the spare tire brackets, so no more spare tire under the car. but the previous owners ran over the jack once and busted it so it wouldn't have done much good to have a spare tire anyways.

I dont think we're able to embed videos in a thread so click the picture below to watch the video. First I just kind of rev it a little bit up to about 4,000, then I do a drive by, and finally I video from inside the car with the windows up then I roll them down towards the end.

I think the best part about it all so far is today when I was getting it inspected (now that I no longer have an exhaust leak) the guy inspecting it was like 'I really like the exhaust system you got on that'. I still failed inspection though, burnt out liscense plate bulbs and he was going to charge $1.50 for the bulb and $12.50 labor! $12.50 to put in a lightbulb! gee I think I'll do that one myself, thanks. I was a little ticked but he complimented my exhaust so its all good.

Let me know what yall think about it.

thanks,
-Josh

Sounds good, little too drony for me, but glad you are happy with it.

Also, do you have speed bumps in your area?

What's up with your interior sounding like a tin can with marbles in it?

Sounds pretty good. If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost for the muffler and the tip.

Im going with you on this one. With mine its only noticable outside the car and only when i really get on it. But it does sounds good and DAMMMMNNNN i thought my car rattled. My 97 im working on slowly getting the int. to quiet down panel by panel Took me half a year to find out my tire jack was lose :banghead:. ither way looking and sounden good :bigthumb:

typically I ride with the windows down and stereo up, I usually dont notice the rattles that way, and there's really only two big rattles; the driver door panel and the thing that covers the jack in the back, I'm holding out untill I get new speakers before I get some sound deadening in there that way I wont tear up those little door pins too much taking the panel on and off so it will fit as tight as possible. And yes our neighborhood does have alot of big dips that if you take going faster than about 35 you can get a little air, its for water drainage... I bought the muffler from completeexhaust.com for $66.87 after shipping and I got the tip from a distributor in austin, tx for $50.91 after shipping its flo-pro part number sto80.

I would start slowing down for those bumps, they are causing the rattles and shaking the shit out of your truck.

Sound deadening won't fix it.

so what exactly are you suggesting, that I slow down and bam all my rattles will be fixed? When I first got the car I took off the door panels to see what shape the speakers were in and I noticed the passenger door has some sort of matt in it whereas the driver door doesn't, and the passenger door doesn't rattle...so its only logical to assume that thats why the driver door rattles soo much. Also I wasn't planning on using the typical dynamat asphalt sound deadening, I was gonna go for second skin audio's luxury liner which is much thicker acoustic grade open celled foam with a vinyl sound barier, on top of something like dynamat

Same muffler I got. I kept the stock piping though. Just add yourself a good Cold Air Intake and listen to it get deeper.

Why is it backfiring? Is it normal if you have a performance exhaust?

TheBrettster

Its not backfiring its unused gas igniting in the exhaust pipe its normal.

I see. Now i know why those hi performance exhaust sounds like backfiring when you let go of the gas.

What I am suggesting is not hitting them that hard as I saw in the video.

That is what is causing all your interior pieces to rattle and come apart, along with probably wearing the heck out of your suspension.

Just trying to help bud.

How much did you pay for the muffler? Im thinking of putting a muffler called DynoMax, it cost about $45.00 US , Im not sure if they are any good though.

Dynomax is good.

I used to have a dynomax on my truck sounded badass, had a little interior noise but nothing drastic. Got it from advanced auto parts for 45, got a turn down pipe and it sat right in front of the rear under the truck so you couldnt really see it. It made a nasty sound with the K&N i had sounded pretty cool when you would let off the gas.

i will probably switch my muffler to dynomax, i have installed a cheap one that cost me about $20. It sounds ok but could be better. I also dont have the tailpipe, i just had a turndown pipe after the muffler.

mine was $51 before shipping, I bought it from www.completeexhaust.com , they've got good prices on a ton of mufflers and fast shipping. I bought the tip from a distributor in austin for $43 before shipping. Post some sounds if you decide on one.

That's nice.
Where'd you get those tips?
I plan to cut turn-downs under my Blazer.
Anyone know if there's a legal length of exhaust pipes or can I cut the pipe as short as I need?
