Air filter

Subject: Aftermarket intake.

Yes, we have one we got off of EBay. This one is more of a CAI type intake. Our K&N style cone filter is under the driver's side fender to draw in cooler air than what is in the engine compartment. It is a PITA to clean and recharge because we have to undo the inner plastic fender splash guard.

Also, make sure the filter is not over oiled. I have not noticed any change in fuel economy but it does have a nice intake sound when flooring it. My son is happy with it and that is all that matters I guess.

Im not sure that I remember what I originally asked. But I know that I was looking for help with a AEM filter.
Thank you for the response. I was thinking about just upgrading to a "cone" style AEM filter. With out going to a cold air intake I dont see any room to put a intake. Am I wrong? would a intake other than a cold air actually help anything?

There are plenty of those available both CAI and warm air. Checkout EBay Motors, Car Parts, Alero, air intake, CAI.

To install one the stock air box has to be removed. The intake ducting/tubing is short and it will fit. With a true CAI the intake ducting/tubing will go out the small opening where the washer bottle and battery sit. Problem is it will be subject to water from rain, etc. It comes into the fender by the headlights. So a water shield has to be put around the cone filter. The ones in the engine compartment don't normally require that but water can seep in through the hood.

One thing I noticed on a CAI is the fuel economy went from a constant in city of around 22 mpg to 23 mpg. The engine sure sounds better especially when you floor it, etc.

ebay air intakes are crap!!! you honestly dont want to waste your time with them...if you go air intake system go name brand for the fitment and quality will be supurb!

I was thinking about going with the Doctor speed CAI. Any opinions on that? Also has anyone had a bad experience with getting water in the intake with the CAI? Thanks
