Big timing issue

Alright, well I got the belt on and in time. All marks right on the money. Tension is equivalent to what it's supposed to be. I go to start it up to set the ignition timing, and now the crank pulley is way out of wack. Meaning thew sprockets gotta be outta time too. How is that possible though if both camshafts are still right in time?:screwy: I tried playing with the crank angle sensor, but nothing useful came of it. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Somehow the timing marks up top are right, and the bottom ones change somehow. Anybody have any ideas, I'm gettin desperate. Thanks.

you have to go around a few revolutions to get all the marks to line up again. Did you do this? Not just 1 time around.

It's twice, but yea I did that. I found out the problem though. In the balance shaft kit I had bought the stubby shaft you use to replace the lower blance shaft had no oil groove in it for it to be lubricated. This was fine at first, but as time went on, the oil would heat and because they are two different types of metals (the housing- aluminum , the stub shaft - steel), they eventually just bonded. I hammered the shaft out and am debating whether to cut grooves in it, or just cut off the end of one of my balance shafts and use it to circulate the sprocket. But anyways, the timing belt would just jump the oil sprocket because the shaft locked up and the oil pump sprocket wouldn't turn. This would make the two camshafts still be on time on top, but the bottom timing marks off. :screwy: Very weird. But now I'll put it back together tomorrow and it should be fine. Thanks guys!
