A little lost

Well, I am just a little lost on somethings that are going "against" me. First off I like to think as myself as a honest, respectful, and a (A true cowboy is quiet, observant[to slip in unknowingly {when neededwill not go there}], polite, and honest.) . So what, I was brought up to be very respectful and the rest of the cowboy moto came later after getting into horses. I was always taught to say yes sir, yes ma'am, hold doors open, take my hat off when in side, pay for the date, and etc. But it seems to get me the good ole "your old fashioned". I don't see it being as old fashioned though, just really respectful. I am also a very dedicated horsemen. I am also determined to accomplish what I want in life. I really want my Commercial Driver's Lisence to be able to drive semis and the like for a horse transportation or interstate motor carrier. Another thing that seems to be "against me" is that I am not exactly just willing to throw my V-Card away after a month or two of dating. I just think it's too soon. Any advice and tips. I am really not willing to make big changes to my ways or morals either.

You said it yourself - you have your priorities all sorted out: horses, commercial driving license, girls (a distant third)? If this is correct, then any girl is probably going to be able to work this out in a short timeframe.

As for the whole "V-Card" thing, this is a load of bollocks - I say, if it feels good, do it. Why worry so much about the first time when you're going to do it a million more times in your life. And as I see it, the first time is usually the worst time - it hurts, you don't know how to act, you don't know if you're doing it right, yada, yada, yada. It's one of those things you naturally get better and better at with practice. Like when you start riding a horse.

I'm not suggesting you go out and become a man slut and fuck anything with a pulse, but if you're physically attracted to someone and it's safe consensual sex between mature adult's then what's the problem? If it feels good, do it.

I don't think it's a question of changing your morals either - sex and morality have little to do with each other, except for within the Judeo-Christian constructs that have been ruining the beauty of sex for the past couple of thousand years. You think you're going to become some sort of unclean, stealing, cheating immoral being because you got laid? PUH-LEASE, it's just something every other mammal on the planet enjoys on a regular basis.

Stick w/ your values. Untill you find a gal that respects you for who you are, i wouldnt throw away my V-card either.

You're on the right track. Dont go off looking for a girlfriend, it will just happen. But if you search for it, you'll never find what you're looking for. You'll know when its the right girlfriend. Dont get to tied up in it. There is some girl out there too that loves horses as much as you do, and shares all your same values.

edit: as far as the original post, don't worry about being "old fashioned" i hold doors open say 'yes sir/ma'am'. It might be because the belt told me too, but oh well. I think it is getting to be harder being "a cowboy" in this world. I'm guessin that you live in a rather big city, not some little po-dunk town, most girls won't, or don't seem, to appreciate your lifestyle. i.e opening doors and stuff. Sex is always a good thing (well sometimes it isn't) Oz nailed it on the head. it is gonna feel weird, akward, anything else you can think of the first time. But you have to experience once, and it WILL get better. Part of my philosophy is that you only live once. I would rather lose my V-card earlier than later and then look back and be like "man that should've/could've been the girl i wanted to lose it with". I'm not sayin go out and hump anything with two legs (and human) but don't be too TOO selective. You'll figure out i'm sure. and once that "one girl" comes around you'll know it.

i think i read somewhere that said only humans and dolphins are the ONLY mammals that have sex purely on the enjoyment factor. all the rest just do it to procreate and that's it. I could be wrong, if i find the article i'll post it

i would agree. it seems like NYcowboy may be a little out of place in his current setting. I know you may not have a choice where you live and what not and that blows man. Unfortunately i think the only thing you may be able to do is wait until you find "the one"
