I am looking at a '99 323i blk, blk leather, sport pkg. The guy wants 20 for it...Is this a good price or should I try to go lower. Does the 323i have any power, it only has 170 hp so I wouldnt think it does. Can anyone enlighten me. Thanks in advance

Is 170hp not powerful?
Maximum power output is not everything.
It is how it applies it that is important.
A car that puts out 'only 170hp' but is a dream to drive, handles well and is controllable, is better than a car with 500hp and goes like a rocket in a straight line but gets right out of shape at the first sight of a corner.
Also probably a lot cheaper to run.

It really depends on what your looking for!
Just out of interest have you driven the car?

good question..
I have driven the 328i, which is the 190hp beemer and it drove like a dream, thats why Im asking about the 323i. Do you think its a good price?, the guy with the 328i wanted 26. Also the 323 has 54000 miles on it, which means no more warrenty, is that alot for a 99 beemer?? what problems if any have any of you had with your beemers around 75k or 80k miles?

ah the 323i, that was the first bimmer that i had wanted to get. the e46 caught my eye and then looking it up i though it was the only one i could afford. at that time the base msrp was like 25 or something. it was the the smaller bmw, but no matter what it is still a fine piece of german engineering that we call a bimmer. now since the the bigger e46 330 are around i think the price should be a lil under 20 for it. 170hp is great i believe, i have a e30 325i and it has 168 and still packs a wallop. alot of cars like your civic, neon, etc that seem to be so popular are around 100 to 120hp or something like that. i think most good condition bmw's will drive like a dream. most cars that come out now a days, especially m50 variant engines need no service except for fluids and filters for the first 100,000 miles. not like my old e30 with the m20b25 engine that needs timing belt every 60,000. as long as the prvious owners took at lil pride and care of the car i think it would be in great shape.

Good Luck!
