Pro Comp CV Style Driveshaft

Over the weekend my stock aluminum driveshaft twisted and snapped on me, and now I need to purchase a new one, and after browsing the internet I found the Pro Comp CV Style Driveshaft. Would this be good for my truck (2000 Chevy Silverado 1/2ton z71)? I don't have a lift kit on it yet but plan to down the road.

It should work for you, I dont see why not. Things change a bit when you start talking suspension lift, depending on how big of a lift you decide to go with will make the difference on needing a new driveshaft. Im running 7 inches of lift in the back and the factory driveshaft is fine. The front is where new drive shaft comes into play with a lift. Mostly depending on how much 4 wheelin you do, and what type of 4wd system you have. Newer versions of auto trac dont need it (driveshaft only spins while 4wd is engaged), unless you do lots of high speed 4wd, while first gen auto tracs need it for sure (driveshaft spins whenever the truck is moving). Anyway to make a long story short, for your purpose, I'd see if you can salvage a oem standard style drive shaft, may be a bit cheaper and save that money for a cv style driveshaft when your lifted. If you have any more questions, i'll do my best to answer.

One more thing, if you decide on the cv style, make sure the lengths they have will work with your stock suspension, the pro-comp usually sell are longer for lifted apps.

Thanks, I'll probly go with an oem. It's the rear driveshaft that broke in 2. Need a nice solid driveshaft, cause the aluminum one just didn't cut it, and I do lots of offroading.
