Third gens V8's used what autos. The Th200 or the 700r4, right? Was the th400 ever used in third gen does anyone know?

Yes they were, John..
The front face TH400 is natively compatible with either the Chevy 90 degree “Small Block” & “Big Block” patterned engines including the V6, V8, I6 & Iron Duke I4.
These differences only affect the front bell of the case, and all Turbo 400 cases are largely similar from that point back.

Well if a third gen used a th400. Your good then cause the 82 - 02 F-body driveshafts are all interchangable.

I think the short tail would create an issue tho......

The issue isnt if the trans works.. im going to use the cross member and loop assembly from spohn, but it sais only for the th400 short shaft and i much prefer the 400 anyway over the stock 700r. i just wanted to see if someone had done this on here and if the drive shaft it self changed over and if not do they know anywhere i can get one to order. i know of a drive shaft shop here in baltimore but i dont know if i can just orderone premade to fit.....

should work, but make sure the trans you have has the shirt tail housing
