98+ Camaros..

G-man422
07-19-2006, 03:45 PM
they have 20 more hp, but weight more than the Stang.
EDIT: Im sorry, the Stang does weight 48lbs more. I suppose the camaro could be faster.

Yes because as we all know that the Camaro's weight of 3,433 is more than 3,483 on the Mustangs..

I forgot who said but a Mustang's HP is actually 270.. not 300.. I think it was DJ.

G-man422
07-19-2006, 03:52 PM
I read 305hp. Who cares. Both Maros & Stangs are nice looking cars IMO.

98+ Camaros..

have you ever driven one? l was so sad to get this car cuz l heard that these cars are slow.. but they are not! l drove 150 miles today. this car will absolutely put a car on an LS1 off the line till 60-80 than LS1 will start to pull and these cars will give a good fight to LS1s.. (with both good drivers)

I forgot who said but a Mustang's HP is actually 270.. not 300.. I think it was DJ.

mustang GT sare underrated cars.. real hp is 320-325 and at the wheels they have 270ish HP.

here is an article about it: (l have tried my best to scan but l couldnt.. tonight l will!

read this:

<< the paint was barely dry on new mustangs before enghisiasts began digging in the under the hood to see what they could make of the new gen. pony's three valve, electronic-throttle controlled 4.6 liter engine.one of those enhisiasts was ohio resident corey zaker, who no sooner took delivery of his red stang before heading for the drag strip. equipped with the five speed manual transmission, the car peeled off some easy 13.8s at 98 mph.. his onlu complaint: it didnt powershift very well. so zaker took the car up to alternative auto, in Mt. clemens, mich, to see what could be done to liven up his new stang. the first step was a baseline performance reading on alternavitve's dynojet, where the car pu down 264rwhp and 276lb-ft of torwue. those were higher than expected numbers for an engine supposedtly rated 300hp. they way we figure it, the 05-06 mustangs are putting out more like 320-325hp-But this is just our guess. either way the new mustangs makes good power across the tach>>

l love LS1s and here on firebird forum, people know how much l love them and how badly l wanted to own one. l will own one sooner or later.. l am not defending mustang against an f-body as an fbody FAN! these are the truths..

I like it Doodad and you may have a 2.73 equiped LT1 but a 3.23 auto or 3.42 equipped 6speed Healthy LT1 will give it a run and not get "raped" but like I said they are sweet cars and congrats.

There is something in the Mustang's computer that hinders it from being done.. you had to modify it somehow or you'll never be able to do one.. I read about it in Hot Rod mag a while back.

wow! l didnt know that.. l really dont even know how to turn the traction control off.. l will figure it out..

something l relaized on this car today, when your foot is on gas, and if you try to hit to brake, it doesnt let you.. l tired but the brake got very hard didnt let me.

FormulaLT1
07-19-2006, 04:46 PM
Probably built in electronic response system. Like traction control you can't turn off. If it senses the wheels at any point in the rear moving faster than the front it holds back the throttlebody from opening anymore til they are all equal again. Thats just my guess on how it works if thats what it is.

...third, everyone would buy a new stang GT only for 21k

Ummm... no. Not for me, maybe if I had someone lined up to buy it for than what I just paid for it, and I could make a grand or two.

I will never own another Ford, even if you GAVE it to me. And if you gave me $21k... I can think of about 50 other cars I would rather buy... 59 Caddy, 55 Chevy Bel Air, 54 Chevy P/U, 67 Nova, 65 GTO, 69 GTO, 79 Maro, 68 Firebird, 71 Trans Am, 64 Catalina, 57 Olds Super Delux, 34 Chevy Delivery, 67 Vette, 48 Chevy, 50's/60's Military Jeep, Old Dodge Powerwagon, need I continue???

Rationale... none are computer controlled, had WAY more style and class, and for 21k, more balls, easier to mod and you can do just about anything to them.

Slam it to the floor with your foot to try to get it unstuck, if not shift to neutral pull over as quick as possible, turn car off.

Worst case scenario, try to get clear of traffic, throw it in park and shut car off.

Close?

well, l would turn the car off after that. keep the key on acc. position so the steering wheel wouldnt lock and l would pull over.

The right answer was in there but not stated directly. You can turn the key out of the run position while the car is in gear. This will turn the car off but not lock up your steering and allow enough power assisted braking to cruise onto the side of the road.

No engine or body damage and your safe.

 , I could so see that in my head. I think sharing the correct answer is important cause so many people panic under conditions like that and what ends up happening is they go speeding into a intersection or wind up slaming into something or like most people think let me slam on the brakes or throw it into neutral and you either wind up losing control cause some wheels are trying to move the car and some are trying to stop it so it spins or with the case of neutral you redline and if your lucky keep hitting your cut off and bouncing off that.

First thing....Congrats Erdal!!!
They are great running cars. Not slow by any means.

Second...Someone please prove 270'ish' at the wheels. The ones I have been seeing are closer to 250 than to 270. I am sure there are a couple factory freaks though...there was with the Camaro and Firebird as well.
Third....LS1 F-Body beats the new Mustang GT. Unless the F-Body driver SUCKS! Like me.

Just to add what Curtis just said. Most auto LT1 F-body dyno around 240 and Manuals LT1 around 250 -255 (if you need proof to back this up I have a friend with a dyno sheet from his stock 95 LT1 stick that made 255.5 horse at the wheels). That doesn't add up to a raping.

I am not backing you up on it not being a hot car cause it is and 260 wheel horsepower is nothing to laugh at. That will eat up most anything on the street. I am just stating that I agree it is not going to eat up 4th gen V8 F-bodys. Hell I am not even saying it won't beat a LT1 which it probably will with a slight advantage but it will not rape one and most LT1 out there had at least a few which equals the playing field.
