Well if some of you guys don't know, i own a '01 sentra roller cam sr20de. its stock except for the JWT pop charger. i say what the heck to my buddy that works with me. He has a sc400. 1JZ i believe it is. he is stock. we decide to race to 80mph on a 40 mph road. both cars are automatics. we get to a red light. i push in the brake and do the whole brake-gas launch thing at about 2200rpm it says. he just puts his in 1st and floors it when the light changed green. 1st gear to 40, he had 2 cars on me, then at 60 he had 3, and finally at 80, he had 4. what i dont get is how i diddnt lose too bad. otherwise it was fun. anyone know what those are post to run stock?

good run, but to me 4 cars is losing pretty bad

the SC400 is the v8 model. they run mid to low 15's stock, and makes only 250hp. i don't know why would anyone pay more for the v8 just to get 30 more extra hp out of it, plus it cost more to turbo the thing and it only came in auto.

yea. i guess he bought it since he was looking for a sc300 and couldnt find one. it was the next best thing. the one thing i dont get is that once we were rolling, he really diddnt pull too much. idk, maybe its time for me to do my tranny swap.

Did the sc300 have the same motor as the supra?

15 sec v8? what's the weight like on this thing?

like 3800lbs. the SC300 has the same engine as a non turbo supra.

chiqua, tranny swap manggg............!!! and the sc300, earlier ones had the 1jzge, the rest were the 2jzge, same engine except for i believe rods, pistons and a couple misc. here and there (someone correct me)

from what i'm aware of the difference between the 2JZ GTE and the 2JZ GE is that the GE has higher compression ratio, weaker rods, and a different intake manifold. the later 2JZ GE's in the SC300's have VTC but even weaker rods then the non VTC engines.

mainweakness is their tranny. they supposidly doesn't hold power too well after 350-400whp, and a swap to a 6 speed from the supra TT is like a $6000 swap, since it needs the tranny, rear end, and custom drive shaft.

he has the 1JZ actually, non turbo v8. there is absolutly no after5market for it. he has looked everywhere. aem, injen, comp racing, name it, and he cant find it for an intake. even the autozone cant get rid of his airbox resonator. i dont get it. since he cant find shit for the car, he said he's getting rims and just cat back exhaust. shouldn't make him a ricer at all.

i think if i did have the tranny swap, and with a launch, i coulda made it down to 2 cars i lose by, maybe less since 3rd gear wouldnt be as big and be in the powerband more.

Well I must say that 4 cars is somewhat significant. I consider 2 cars to be not by much, but anything over 3 cars is a big loss.

Good run though. I saw a lady try to out power my car with the newer SC430. I don't think I even floored it to keep up with her. They are heavy cars, as TatII stated. They have really plush interiors though, and are not meant to drag race in.

i seriosuly though he would kill me like the mustang gt did. i guess that guy was modded or something. i raced a ls1 camero b4, he had like 7 cars on me or so. im just surprised how well i kept up to him.

hahah 7 cars is over 2 bus lenghts, thats still quit a beating if you ask me.

Yeah, I could probably keep within 5 car lengths of a Lamborghini Gallardo, but that's not too bad :p
