I'm working on a 98 cavalier that has what was almost 100% sure to be a bad wheel bearing... all of the sounds and normal signs... so the drivers side front hub was replaced and yes it was very bad... passenger side front checked out fine... new rotors, pads .... well sounds still there, in the front.... I'm pretty sure it's not suspension related anymore because the sound varys on engine rpms not speed.... now I'm kind of stumped... usually I can figure this stuff out but I'm running a blank.. any ideas?

does it sound like the motor is reving high but you look at the rpms and it is low? or does it sound like the blower is on? If so i had the same problem on my 97, it IS the wheel bearing.

could be a bad half shaft, inspect the boots for tearing and loss of grease.

wheel bearing is brand new and the passenger side wheel bearing is good, not slopped out at all.... the CV shaft looked fine, boots were all intact....
