99 Coil pack help

So here's the problem. I went to advance to get a new coil strip for my 99 4.0. initally they showed me a conventional coil which I do not have so we looked at 00, 01, and 02 part numbers to see if they were different than the 99. they were and then those three years were the same part number. After they finally got it in I installed it tonight and noticed one difference on the coils. The plug faces upward on the original coil and the advance one faced down. I looked at the numbers stamped in them and the last few were different but the first 8 or 9 were the same so i tried it anyway and it wouldn't start. When I tried to start it it sounded like the timing was 180 out. It backfired through the throttle body and wouldn't kick. My question is does anyone know if the firing order is diffrent between 99 and 00 also if anyone thinks that the coil pack may have been defective. and in 99 are there some modles with a distributor in them. Also should I just give up on the $100 advance coil and get a $175 dealer coil.
thanks for the help

ok i figured everything out. the coil for the 99 4.0 is diffrent from 00 and up. the parts stores have the correct coil (i hope) if you bring them the mopar part number for the 99 coil. I hope this thing will work since it will take a few days to get.
