89' Beretta GT

I looked at this 89' GT today,it had about 102,000 miles and the guys askin about 600$..theirs like a gash near the gas tank, like its rotted out its pretty deep and you can see layers of rust and under the car the frame doesnt seem all that solid..idk what to do..I drove it and it just seems like it needs brakes..not sure how extensive, and the gas gauge doesnt work..

I would not be too concerned with the mileage, as that is not too bad. Brakes, most likely the front, should not be much to fix if you do it yourself. Rear ones need cleaned and adjusted, rarely need replaced as they do little work. If you have brakes fixed in a garage, well, can get expensive but no way to tell for sure until you look at them or have them looked at. A TOTAL rebuild might set you back 500 bucks for front and rear but that would be EVERYTHING. Most likley just the front ones. Rust can be a pain and a concern. My son has a friend that bought a 95 Beretta and it had a LOT of frame rust and he had a steering part break from excess rust. Body looked good but, frame was rough. All of them will have some rust though. If rust is caked on underneath I would steer away from it. Body rust can be dealt with if not a lot. if you are talking about one hole, get some bondo. Sounds like a 600 dollar car, problem is they require constant work. Might be best to search for a better car unless you like to wotk on them or are just short of money. I have driven cars like this in a pinch. As long as that frame is not badly rusted and it runs, shifts OK you might get by with it.

Ah im just gonna wait...to much work for what im looking for right now..and thats a cheap,reliable car.
