That makes absolutley no sense. Get the code from teh ECM. Are you sure you reconnected the tan wire from the distributer to the ECM?

I don't understand the part about plugging in the ac? as in air conditioning and you pluged it in?. As in the compressor. I am lost here.

Thank you both for replying so quick, k on my fan belt there the ac block I guess you'd call it. That was unplugged, so we plugged it in! turn the car on and engine light came on. so we unplugged it and now its still on! I beleive it just the sensor but at the same time have no idea.
anothere problem could be when I bought the spark plugs the book said to gap them at 0.35, so we did. My car ran great, then when we changed the spark plug wires the next day and on my hood it said "Spark Gap 0.45." So we regapped them(and plugged in my ac block), and now my car has the engine light on and when I start my car it revs low for a second then high and then it levels out. Seriously it takes like 5-6 sec to get my car to idle right I guess you'd say, so is the problem the AC or or spark plug gap? I just don't think the engine light would come on because the engine is running a high spark. Thxs again for all the help!!!

The only impact plugging the A/C compressor would have on the cars computer system would be if it can't operate the idle air control solenoid, wich the ECM commands to raise the idle in repsonse to the extra load on the engine with the A/C on. Which soulds like it may be the problem.
What motor ?
There was a huge mixup on the books in repeects to plug gap.

Sorry, shoulda said from the begining. Camaro RS V6, 92! Also today I plugged the A/C block (give it power or whatever) in to just to see if the light would turn off and no. but on the plus my A/C WORKS:grinyes: (does need a charge though) but yeah the engine light still stays on and it still trys to adjust RPM at start-up!:shakehead So that probaly means it the spark plugs ha? Should I regap them to 0.35? Thxs for all the help!!!

to reset it you take the positive battery cable off for a minute or so. and to check what code it is you locate the connector under the drivers side dash. its like right next to your right knee i guess when your sitting in it. just a big connector 2 tall by like ummmm 16 maybe? not sure. but you bend a paperclip into a U and turn the ignition on and place one end into the top right hole and the other side of it into the next one to the left. so the top row is like ooooooxx and the bottom row is all open. dont count those cuz im not sure what the numbers are. but the check engine light should flash once, pause, flash twice. thats a code 12. does that everytime. repeats each code 3 times. write down the codes and post em on here.

all clear.
12 is no distributer reference pulse, which there wouldn't be because the motor is off.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 is the firing irder so from the front of the motor it would look like:

...3..........7
...4..........2
......8.....1

Except I believe he mentioned it's a V-6. That's going to make it tough to find locations the #7 and #8.

You should have the 191 or 207 Chevy V-6.
