2000 Elantra SW with 171k just had, according to the dealar, both radiator fans burn out. Has anyone else had this happen?
$400 for the pair of fans, 160 labor charges! Assuming they're made out of gold!
Got to get them fixed, as hitting high 90s today, 103 tomorrow here in Midwest. Assuming that's why the AC compressor shut down as engine was overheating.
Am I the one getting hosed here???

If the fans are just burned out and the electrical connections etc are still good it wouldn't be that hard to do yourself. It's just a matter of draining the radiator, taking it out, removing the old fans, and putting new ones on. You might check around to see if you can get the fans cheaper too. Dealers always have huge markups on parts.
