What is the name of it. ?? someone help please

Hello all,

I wanna first thank everyone that helpped me with my last post about the motor oil that was put in my tranny..

my question is that there is a part I dont know what its called, it is located over the Oil filter. it has a cap on it that keeps coming off and the oil is leaking from it when the cap comes off my check engine light goes on, and now the oil pressure gauge is all the way down and the check oil level came on. I dont know what it is called and before I go to fix it I wanna make sure I know what Im fixing. can someone help me please.

what size motor do you have?

It *may* be the oil sending unit; the part that tells the guages/computer what oil pressure you have and whether there's oil in system. If it's broken/coming off occasionally, you're losing oil, not to mention the sensors won't get an accurate read
