stereo removal

i just bought a 2000 Eclipse GT and i want to try to directly connect my ipod to the stereo. how would i go about accessing the back of the head unit?

Buy a itrip for 50 bucks and save your self alot of trouble.

I know someone has posted something about how to splice into the stock HU and run an Ipod, but not really sure myself what to do. Yeah that radio ipod thingy works alright, but it still sounds like it's a radio station, and usually not a good one at that.

well, im pretty sure if i can just get to the back of the head unit i can do it. i dont need specific instructionis on how to do anything except get there.
plus i dont have an extra $50 to spend on an i trip...im a 16 yr old guy that just bought a car....and they sound like crap anyway

To get to the back of the head unit is very easy. You have to take your two side panals off by your feet, your center console (stick shift area) off and then I think you have to pop the piece off over the radio to get to the 4 screws that hold the head unit in. After all that it should just slide out. I think I can get mine out in like 5 minutes now. Easy job! About the slicing of wires, your on your own there...good luck with that one.

there are only 2 screws on bottom of center garnish (near the cubby hole)
take those out and pull it offm (there are spring clips holding on top) Unplug the hazard light button and youll see a bracket holding the stereo unscrew and your set (at most 6 screws)
