Favorite Ice Cream Chain?

So what's your favorite Ice Cream chain, be it Cold Stone, Haagen Daz, Basking Robins, Dairy Queen, Carvel you name it.

I would say it would have to be Baskin Robins and Cold Stone as my picks. I haven't had Haagen nor Carvel in a while, and Dairy Queen is a bit on cheapy side, but I like their blizzards.

The only ice cream chains we have in our area is Carvel and Cold Stone Creamery. I chose Carvel as I have been there on numerous occasions, but haven't been to C.S.C.( too far from my house.) We had Dairy Queen in the past , but they moved out of the area, hard to do business here as "ice cream season is only about 6 months out of the year. We do have a lot of independent ice cream stands that make their own ice creams and they are excellent.

Cold Stone. I've actually never heard of Carvel, must be a regional chain. Yea, Cold stone is a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it ("for only 30 cents more, you can upgrade to the 'love it' size" - I hate when they say that). A new one just opened up by my house not too long ago, and as a promotion they were giving away a lot of coupons for free ice cream, lotsa fun.

 Basking and Robbins.

My favorite is Carl's. It's a small chain, 1 store, in Fredericksburg VA. It's been there since the 50's and their stuff is the best I've ever had, hands down.

Worth the 5-10 minute drive off of Interstate 95.

We got Cold Stone Creamery in Pittsburgh sometime in the last couple years... out of that list, I would have to go with that... I am seriously salivating just thinking about it... there are sooooooo many flavors that I just LOVE! Bruster's is another chain I like (chocolate raspberry truffle).

I picked Batman & Robbins but my real favorite is Oberweis Dairy. Its a Chicago chain. They have by far the best shakes on this planet. The closest one is about a half hour away, but when its 98 degrees outside (like yesterday) its well worth it.

Cold Stone would be my third favorite, but I hate places where they make the employees say/sing stupid shit.

omg how could you leave out culvers! it started in the city next to where i live and now there are several hundred of them alllll over the US and they are amazingly good! home of the famous butterburger too. that's where i put my vote.

all the Wendy's restaurants in my city offer free frostys on fridays if it is over 90. which, in New MExico, is not that hard.

don't tip them then. unless it is different there, here if you tip they sing, if you don't tip they don't sing.

I forgot about Culvers. Screw Cold Stone.

culvers > CSC

butterburger > reggie burger

butterburger + ice cream/custard > non-bloatedness

very true. I was so pissed when I tipped these bastards out of the goodness of my heart (and disdain for loose change) and they put me on blast by singing and causing a spectacle! I'll be keeping my :2cents: from now on

it's not like Coldstone requires you to tip, or is it a general rule of thumb. In restaurants it is sort of an unwritten rule that you tip. If you were to follow that rule at Coldstone, then you would have to follow that rule at all other fast food places. All they do at Coldstone is mix some stuff into the ice cream and mash it up.

:werd: Its not rocket science there. But yet and still the tip jar just sits there, staring you in the face, while the patrons in line behind you glare at your trembling hand as you reach for your change... You try to defy the cult-like brainwashed culture of this cursed Cold Stone Creamery and put the dollar in the bill fold, but the pressure is too great! ...you drop your hard-earned $0.63 in the styrofoam cup to quench the tip-thirsy masses behind the counter and as soon as that last metallic disc resounds with the *clink* of a thousand poor souls before you who lost their change after they had given into the pressure to donate to this "optional" tip cup ... the sadistic 16 year olds open their pimple encrusted mouths and below out their demonic siren song to mock you! Aaauuuggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAMN YOU COLD STONE CREAMERY!!!!!!!!

Rita's is damn good too. My friends from philly had some shipped down to florida and were sellin it at school. They made a killing! They wanted to open an official franchised store, but it didn't pan out.

NZ Natural. Actually any New Zealand ice cream chain. Nobody can do dairy prodcts as good as the Kiwis and now the EU have put an import ban on NZ dairy. :(

I find most American/European Ice Cream to be like eating salt, it's damn near flavourless, even the supposedly "Luxurious" Swiss brands.

Anyone want to put some Tip Top Ice Cream in an envelope and mail it to me? :p

Can do. There's this great kind called Ex-Lax, it comes in a convenient bottle. It'll probably melt on the way to NZ, but it should still be good. The taste may be something you're not used to, so chug it down.
