Hey guys, it is time for me to spray down some flat clear on my TS-29 parts. Which one is your favourite Flat Clear?
1. Mr. Super Clear Semi-Gloss
2. Mr. Super Clear Flat
3. Mr. Color Spray #030 Flat Clear
4. Modeler's Flat Clear

Thanks guys

My favorite is Vallejo paints flat clear - premixed for airbrushing in an easy to pour from bottle and always goes on nice.

no doubt about it, Testors laquer Dull coat. yes, Testors, fantastic stuff, dries fast, and is as hard as a rock when dried. been using it for years and have no plans on moving to anything else

I like it and use it a lot, but it is prone to scratching...can't say how many times I've dullcoated a dash (I do it to seal acrylic basecoats before brushpainting acrylic paint details, such as centerstacks and vents and all) and had it get a minor scratch from the vigors of multiple test fits. I think Acryl flat clear acrylic is a bit more durable, I just don't like spraying it as well. Heck, Tamiya acrylic flat black is also very prone to surface scratches, unlike Acryl flat black. But often I'll just dust another coat of Dullcote over the scratches to even everything out just prior to gluing the interior in for the very last time.

i've only tried Mr. Super Clear Flat from the list since the others aren't easy to get in the philippines.

i do find thinned-down (60% thinner, 40% paint) nippelac acrylic lacquer clear sprayed at about .75-1 meter away to be the best though. just make sure the plastic is primered correctly or it'll eat the plastic.

I second this. I have tried a lot of different brands, but this is the best flat finish in my opinion. plus it thins and cleans up with ordinary water.

I use almost exclusively Model Master Lacquer Dullcote. It sprays really nicely. Recently, I found a little twist for flat surfaces that would be a little dirty: PollyScale Railroad Colors - Dust. It is very flat and adds just a hint of light to it. I use it now on car bottom parts, inside engine bays, etc. I also like that it is an acrylic.

Humbrol. Should be almost the same as Testors, cannot go wrong with that one, inexpensive and good. Not that I have tried anything else
