Hi, I just found you guys and decided to post some of my stuff. I never took the time to go to art school, so any input would be helpful! Thanks, Branden

This is the finished picture. Sorry it's such bad quality photo. The flash on my camera just overexposed the picture. Any ideas how to take good digital photos of artwork? Some of my stuff is too big to scan.

Excellent work, bro. The sketches of the old 'Stang and the old Chevy are my favorites.
Hey, try reshooting the picture of the old Chevy without using the flash. You can use mid-day sunlight or good indoor-lighting to light the drawing (but make sure that you angle it right so that there is no glare).

Thanks for the comments! I'm getting the 48 Chevy framed now, and will post a better pic of it when I get it back. I also started drawing a '67 Shelby 'Eleanor'. I'll throw that one up too when it's done. B

You've got some great work there! My fav is the Beetle- nice angle and contrast in your rendering. The chevy is great as well. Are you using colored pencil? If so, what brand?

Right now I'm using Staedtler(German) colored pencils and Campap 165 gsm, B4 paper from Malaysia. http://www.cheewah.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=19
It's a fairly thick paper, and pretty smooth. However, I still have trouble with the grain showing through. Any paper that you all would recommend for color pencil? From the pieces I've seen, Alex has the color pencil/paper combination figured out! Thanks, B

I use a paper called Rising Stonehenge. I'm sure it's availible... you live in the States, right?
Try playing around with burnishing if you want to get rid of the grain - take a white pencil, press a bit harder than you normally do, and go over the area that's grainy.

Excellent work, bro. Does your camera have a macro-feature? You should try photographing your artwork using this feature.
