on my 1994 geo metro the belt tensioner how does this work i cant get it to move it has a long bolt at the botton to thight it but how do you lossen it to get the belt on.

The alternator is the belt tensioner. You need to loosen the bolts on both sides on the bottom, and loosen the one at the top, and it will move freely. You should use a pry-bar or something similar to tension the belt while you tighten the top bolt back up.
